Before & After School Programs
Early Morning Drop-Off
Each school day begins at 8:00 a.m. sharp. Early morning drop-off with faculty supervision for all ages is available on a daily basis starting at 7:15 a.m. in the Dareshori Gymnasium. Students may go to their respective classrooms at 7:45 a.m.
Midday Program
The Midday Program offers care and activities for children in pre-kindergarten in the first semester on Mondays through Thursdays, and the second semester on Mondays and/or Wednesdays. Midday takes those enrolled through to the end of the regular school day at 3:15 p.m. Sign-up is through a contract that must be completed by September for the first semester and January for the second, for one or more days. Enrollment is limited and, due to staffing limitations, the program cannot accommodate drop-ins.
The Midday Program is designed to provide a low-key afternoon for the children, much like a playdate but with more friends. The format of the afternoon is one of a flexible nature, while simultaneously maintaining Tenacre's philosophy of nurturing and challenging its students. There are conversations with friends at the lunch table, arts and crafts projects, games, stories, rest time, and plenty of outdoor play. After-School Program
The After-School Program recognizes that following a full school day, children of all ages need the opportunity to make their own choices. At After-School, students can choose among structured projects, small group activities and games, and unstructured individual time. With this in mind, After-School provides a rich play environment in a well-supervised, relaxed setting. Each afternoon begins with a snack, including fruit. One or more daily arts and craft projects are highlighted. Games, cards, puzzles, and building with Legos and blocks have been some of the recent favorite options. For the older children, After-School provides quiet time for completing homework. Fridays provide additional options with themed days and special events, which are advertised in Tenacre’s weekly Green Leaf e-newsletter. Program hours are 3:15–6:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 12:15–5:00 p.m. on Friday. Contract sign-up can be for one day to five days per semester and drop-ins are always welcome.
